About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead or serve as subject matter expert for the department or function, providing backup support across functional areas
- Perform complex trust-accounting functions, including cash receipts, cash disbursements, income collection, trade settlement, and trust-accounting-system controls
- Perform monthly certifications and audits of critical general-ledger and other accounts
- Identify discrepancies for management review and correction
- Input accounting entries and prepare, balance, and reconcile daily blotters to the trust accounting system
- Balance and process checks
- Review and process reject items; receive, distribute, and file related documents
- Troubleshoot problems and ensure data integrity, including daily backups and preparation of systems for daily data transmission
- Prepare, control, and process complex disbursements, income, note and liability payments, and trust fees
- Process settlement instructions and settle funds for assigned accounts
- Answer questions, help resolve problems, and provide resources for less experienced employees
- Work on special projects assigned by the department manager
- Assist in creating and monitoring procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred
- 4+ years in a Bank Trust department or at a Trust company in an operations role
- Experience working with trust accounting systems and trust-related transactions
- Strong understanding of trust operations, account reconciliations, settlements, cash processing, and general ledger controls
- Ability to identify, research, and resolve complex operational issues
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy in a deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to provide guidance and training to less experienced team members
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and exercise sound judgment in decision-making
