Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and strengthen the enterprise product-development project management function for global New Product Development initiatives.
- Lead a team of cross-platform Project Managers and establish common governance, reporting, tools, and operating practices.
- Drive consistent application of New Product Development and Product Development Process frameworks across platforms and business functions.
- Establish project governance, phase-gate expectations, decision-readiness criteria, escalation paths, project-health standards, and leadership review cadences.
- Own NPD performance metrics, integrated project plans, portfolio reporting, budget reporting, and financial visibility.
- Drive disciplined execution from concept through development, validation, industrialization, launch, and post-launch transition.
- Lead process and tool standardization, continuous improvement, training, and adoption plans.
- Conduct capacity-and-demand assessments and translate portfolio priorities into executable delivery plans.
- Facilitate decisions, resolve cross-functional conflicts, remove barriers, and manage project risks and corrective actions.
- Build partnerships across Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Service, Finance, and Commercial functions.
- Lead, coach, develop, recruit, and retain Project Managers while building capability in project leadership, financial management, risk management, and executive reporting.
- Improve NPD delivery, predictability, governance adoption, portfolio visibility, financial forecasting, and global Project Management team effectiveness.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management, product development, engineering, industrial products, or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Experience in an individual contributor technical role, such as product designer, engineer, test technician, manufacturing engineer, or equivalent technical development role.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex New Product Development, R&D, value-engineering, or product-lifecycle initiatives from concept through launch.
- Proven success leading cross-functional teams in a global, matrixed organization.
- Strong understanding of phase-gate or stage-gate product-development processes, project governance, integrated scheduling, and portfolio reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, financial forecasts, cost-benefit analyses, and resource-allocation decisions.
- Strong experience identifying, assessing, communicating, and mitigating program risks.
- Proven ability to influence without direct authority, align diverse stakeholders, resolve conflict, and drive timely decisions.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and business information for varied audiences.
- Demonstrated success leading organizational and process change, including adoption of new tools, standards, and ways of working.
- Strong people-leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance-management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project-management, portfolio-management, and reporting tools.
- PMP certification, or equivalent demonstrated experience applying formal project-management methodologies.
- Experience leading global teams and managing geographically distributed project portfolios.
- Experience in pumps, valves, seals, flow-control equipment, industrial equipment, energy, process industries, or similarly complex engineered-product environments.
- Familiarity with Agile, hybrid Agile/stage-gate, Lean, Design-to-Value, Design for Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous-improvement methodologies.
- Experience with Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Power BI, Microsoft BI dashboards, Mural, Planview, or comparable portfolio and collaboration platforms.
- Experience with product lifecycle management, engineering-change management, and intellectual-property processes.
- Demonstrated experience implementing project-management office, portfolio governance, or enterprise reporting improvements.
