About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead professional coding operations across the health system
- Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely coding of professional services
- Develop and implement coding strategies, standards, and best practices
- Drive performance, quality, productivity, and compliance outcomes
- Partner with clinical, operational, compliance, and revenue cycle leaders to improve processes and results
- Support organizational goals through effective management of coding teams and resources
- Support claim submission, regulatory reporting, quality initiatives, and population health programs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree from an AHIMA accredited HIM program or another healthcare-related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10 or more years of extensive background in ICD-10-CM coding and official coding guidelines
- 7 years of management/supervisory experience overseeing coding operations and teams
- Experience standardizing complex and disparate processes and maintaining common processes to standards across multiple facilities and settings
- Proven history of proactively identifying, resolving, and escalating issues impacting business outcomes
- Experience in process improvement methodology, change management, and operational improvement in complex systems
