About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Direct all phases of client programs from inception through completion
- Manage program cost, implementation, and performance
- Participate in contract and contract-change negotiations
- Coordinate business plans, work statements, specifications, operating budgets, and contract financial terms/conditions
- Ensure development aligns with market trends, program goals, and client needs
- Serve as primary customer contact for program activities
- Lead customer program review sessions covering cost, schedule, and performance
- Develop new business or expand the product line with clients
- Analyze program problem and opportunity areas and evaluate options
- Evaluate performance and recommend marketing actions
- Establish milestones and monitor adherence to program plans and schedules
- Identify program problems and obtain solutions, including resource allocation or contractual specification changes
- Determine profitability and viability of new products or program enhancements
- Develop strategies and tactics for effective program performance across the program life cycle
- Direct work of technical, marketing, operations, analytics, and administrative employees assigned to the program
Requirements
What you’ll need- Relevant work experience plus 8+ years project management
- 5+ years people management
- Bachelor’s degree, MS or MBA preferred
- Ability to manage one large program (typically $5-10m annual revenue without incentives) or a large portfolio of smaller client contracts
- Experience contributing to or leading contract creation and executing contracts for compliance and client satisfaction
- Ability to direct and coordinate multi-function teams typically consisting of 10-30 people
- Experience with people management, including other program managers, with span of control for 2-5 people, plus contractors (ACWs)
- Experience managing strategic and/or highly complex and risky programs
- Ability to lead process and tool improvement
- May create technical content and intellectual property
