Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary technical powerhouse of a collaborative, mission-driven DHS sales team
- Act as a strategic technical advisor to DHS stakeholders
- Deliver technical presentations, customized solution designs, and proof-of-concept leadership
- Architect secure application delivery configurations, systems engineering layouts, and hybrid/multi-cloud integration blueprints
- Maintain knowledge of F5 products, Federal cybersecurity mandates, and federal network architecture trends
- Differentiate F5 solutions from industry alternatives
- Create and support agency-specific technical content, solution briefs, whitepapers, reference architectures, and localized use cases
- Mentor peers, document methodologies, and build internal and external relationships
- Own and assist with Change Requests and Customer Special Request cases
- Map F5 strategy and product value propositions to DHS objectives and modernization goals
- Cultivate relationships from agency technical staff through executive leadership
- Provide pre-sales customer service and post-sales transition support
- Develop and adapt Technical Account Plans in Salesforce.com with the Account Manager
- Leverage F5 engineering, product management, and support organizations
- Identify, qualify, and shape technical opportunities around agency budgeting and procurement cycles
- Advocate for customers during high-severity incidents
- Collaborate with Federal Technical Support and partner engineering teams to resolve complex issues
- Uphold F5’s Business Code of Ethics and report policy violations
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of technical experience in a dynamic, high-tech environment
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of successful experience in pre-sales engineering or technical consulting
- Federal/SLED experience highly preferred
- Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance required
- Active TS/SCI preferred
- Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph
- Hands-on systems administration across UNIX/Linux and Windows environments
- Strong application-layer awareness
- Expertise in LAN/WAN networking protocols and architecture
- Knowledge of Layer 4–7 traffic management, routing, switching, firewalls, and DDoS mitigation
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Experience with F5 BIG-IP technologies, including LTM, GTM, AFM, SSLo, and WAF/ASM
- Understanding of AWS, Azure, and GCP public/hybrid cloud architectures
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, GitHub, CloudFormation, and ARM templates
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD methodologies
- Experience with SAST/DAST or API security frameworks
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, iRules/Tcl, Node.js, JavaScript, or C
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
- Ability to support occasional on-call or critical mission needs outside standard business hours
