About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide leadership to hourly, salaried exempt, and salaried non-exempt employees within Plant Operations
- Lead unit operations and ensure safe, reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible performance
- Ensure achievement of safety, production, quality, and budget goals
- Participate on the Bayport Choate Leadership Team to develop the site strategic plan and annual goals
- Drive gap-closure efforts and align plant activities with Global Manufacturing and Company strategic plans
- Champion and implement corporate-level strategic initiatives and goals
- Provide leadership, development, and coaching to direct reports and support staff
- Deliver GoalZERO HSE performance through leadership, employee and contractor involvement, and effective management systems
- Maintain technical and operational understanding of processes, equipment, products, risks, and business requirements
- Ensure Company policies, Code of Conduct, and corporate standards are administered consistently
- Manage day-to-day execution across all unit areas
- Coach employees, develop talent and successors, hold people accountable, and manage professional development
- Ensure appropriate staffing and organizational capability
- Foster collaboration, teamwork, and effective decision-making
- Translate strategies into operating-area objectives and action plans
- Develop, monitor, and communicate KPI performance and lead continuous improvement plans
- Participate in and lead site, regional, and corporate initiatives
- Prepare and manage the unit budget
- Identify and recommend capital investments
- Build the LyondellBasell brand through community engagement
- Report to the Bayport Choate Site Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree with 8 years’ experience in progressively more responsible positions in petrochemical or refining process operations; in lieu of a degree, 12 years’ relevant experience
- Knowledge of and experience with HSE, operating, maintenance, and engineering processes and procedures
- Knowledge of business fundamentals and shared services roles in manufacturing
- Demonstrated leadership ability in a formal leadership role
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to interface with all organizational levels within the company
- Technical or operational background
- Good computer skills
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old
