About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a commercial partner to the business in executing medium, potentially international, customer contracts in the steel-making industry
- Ensure project management is performed with financial integrity and within contractual parameters
- Manage all commercial aspects required for successful project execution
- Forecast and report revenue, costs, and cash flow
- Perform timely billing according to contract, including milestone achievements
- Identify and mitigate potential commercial risks in partnership with the business
- Prepare contract change orders and claims
- Fulfill contractual insurance, guarantee, and bond requirements
- Approve project purchase requisitions
- Perform Goods Receipts functions for delivered goods
- Prepare bank presentations for drawing from Export Letters of Credit
- Prepare commercial/proforma invoices for exportation of goods
- Monitor aging/blocked balance sheet items, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and resolve discrepancies
- Liaise with various internal functions
- Handle financial responsibilities related to project closing, month-end, and other commercial activities
- Drive continuous process improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree with finance, accounting, auditing focus
- 2 to 5 years of experience in accounting and/or similar project management or project manager controller role
- Experience with financial reporting and accounting guidelines
- Experience interacting with external auditors
- Knowledge of work breakdown structure and/or chart of accounts
- International commercial terms (INCOterm) exposure
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports and contract documents
- Experience interacting with customers and sub-suppliers
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with people at all organizational levels
- Ability to facilitate corrective action and best practice sharing
- Diverse background in finance roles where leadership skills were required
- Ability to demonstrate an attitude that positively influences the project team
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to display confidence, honesty, and flexibility
- Self-starter who is action oriented and possesses a strong sense of urgency
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills
- SAP experience including Sales and Project models preferred
- Experience with accounting, project forecasting, and financial reporting preferred
- Experience with complex long-term projects a plus
- Industry knowledge a plus
- Proficiency in a foreign language a plus
- Required travel of 5–10%
