About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle Casualty claims in accordance with Aviva’s procedures and philosophy
- Interpret and confirm insurance coverage using relevant case law and detailed knowledge of policy wordings
- Investigate, evaluate, and settle litigated and non-litigated claims
- Develop strategies to direct-handle files to conclusion and instruct independent adjusters as needed
- Set file reserves accurately and promptly in line with company protocols
- Control expenses through proactive handling techniques
- Partner with defence counsel on litigated files to develop and implement timely, cost-effective resolution strategies
- Provide excellent customer and partner communication on claim matters
- Document and summarize file activity clearly
- Understand and adhere to Aviva’s claim procedures and guidelines
- Provide outstanding customer service to clients and partners
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1–3 years’ experience handling litigated bodily injury claims, including general liability/premises operations claims and auto tort liability
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong working knowledge of third-party liability claims, including Bodily Injury, Property, and Auto Physical Damage litigation
- Mediation, Pre-Trial and Trial experience
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Superior organizational skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Adaptability, flexibility, willingness to learn and integrity
- Committed team player with a positive outlook
- Post-Secondary education in a related field
- CIP designation would be an asset
