About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and support a team of Remote Operations Centre Controllers
- Ensure safe, reliable, and compliant day-to-day operations of renewable generation assets
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex or abnormal events
- Manage high-risk, non-routine operational scenarios
- Coordinate and prioritize real-time controller activities involving alarms, outages, grid instructions, and weather-driven events
- Ensure adherence to NERC reliability standards, ISO/RTO requirements, and internal procedures
- Maintain required documentation, communications, and event reporting
- Communicate operational updates to internal stakeholders, site teams, and external grid operators
- Contribute to improving control room procedures, tools, and operational best practices
- Monitor real-time operations and respond to time-sensitive, high-impact events
- Support coordination with internal stakeholders and site teams through occasional travel within Canada and the United States
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree or diploma (or equivalent experience) in engineering, business, or a related field
- At least 5 years in a similar operational role
- Experience in a 24/7 control room or renewable operations environment
- Knowledge of power generation, transmission/distribution systems, renewable technologies, and grid operations
- Skilled in SCADA systems, alarm management, data acquisition, and performance monitoring tools used in power generation environments
- Understanding of NERC standards, ISO market rules, and compliance requirements
- Ability to lead complex operational scenarios and collaborate across technical and cross-functional teams
- Final candidates may be required to undergo security screening, including a criminal records check
