Key responsibilities & impact- Provide operational support to sustainability and resiliency programs at Vanderbilt University.
- Design, implement, and manage evidence-based sustainable and resilient operational improvements.
- Collaborate with REFD operational units, Operations and Campus Networks, Athletics, Dining, network campus management, Finance, academic schools, and the Dean of Students office.
- Implement and improve High-Performance and Resilient Infrastructure Design Guidelines.
- Engage in design development for renovation and new construction projects on Nashville and network campuses.
- Expand the Sustainable Labs program within Vanderbilt’s research and innovation community.
- Design and improve network campus environmental compliance, sustainability, and resiliency programs.
- Track sustainability and resiliency data for trend analysis, dashboard reporting, and regulatory reporting.
- Collaborate with the environmental compliance team and support network campuses.
- Champion efficiency and effectiveness using AI, informatics, metrics, databases, software, and technology.
- Report directly to the Sustainability Director.
- Adhere to service standards and remain current on advances in the field.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, sustainability, resiliency or related technical field and/or other related specialty is required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the area of expertise or a university setting is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted.
- Ability to obtain professional certification is required; relevant certifications may include PE, LEED, PMP, REM, CHMM, or other applicable certifications.
- Working knowledge of environmental engineering and management, sustainability, or resiliency theory, concepts, standards, best practices, and regulations.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft and Adobe products, including Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Advanced data management, AI, analytical, quantitative, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt.
- Ability to plan and execute multi-task and multi-project requirements and deliverables to meet objectives and deadlines is strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships in a diverse, service-oriented environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and appreciate differing perspectives.
