Key responsibilities & impact- Define and drive high-impact investigations addressing evolving fraud threats at scale
- Identify important business risks and shape investigative approaches
- Lead cross-functional investigations from problem definition through remediation
- Analyze complex casework, fraud trends, operational signals, and data to identify patterns and quantify impact
- Develop evidence-backed recommendations for fraud controls, tooling, workflows, model strategy, and risk mitigation
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, Design, Legal, Support, and other stakeholders
- Influence ML strategy through feature engineering, labeling strategies, evaluation criteria, and experiment design
- Translate investigation findings into tooling and process requirements and drive delivery
- Co-lead fraud risk assessments for new and evolving products
- Communicate complex technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences
- Draft investigation briefs, lead readouts, and align stakeholders on goals, trade-offs, progress, and outcomes
- Represent Fraud Operations in working groups, incidents, and roadmap discussions
- Create playbooks, runbooks, documentation, and training
- Identify systemic issues and propose durable fixes
- Mentor investigators and informally lead pods or project workstreams without direct reports
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in fraud prevention, risk management, or Trust & Safety investigations within e-commerce, marketplace, payments, or fintech environments
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional investigations spanning multiple fraud surfaces and stakeholder groups
- Advanced SQL and data visualization skills, such as Looker or Tableau
- Experience analyzing large, complex datasets to identify insights and quantify impact
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
- Track record of translating investigation findings into scalable roadmap, policy, or tooling improvements
- Demonstrated initiative and ownership in ambiguous environments
- Ability to anticipate dependencies and trade-offs and develop clear, actionable plans
