- Develop investment theses and recommendations with Product and Engineering leaders
- Maintain market maps and competitor analyses covering strategy, products, positioning, pricing, M&A and funding activity
- Identify markets and adjacencies GitLab should not pursue
- Run build, buy or partner analyses and deliver recommendations
- Produce strategy memos, decks and business cases for executives and the Board
- Feed market and inorganic strategy insights into annual and long-range planning
- Frame strategic partnership opportunities and hand them to partnership owners
- Manage end-to-end acquisition processes from introductions through closing and integration
- Develop valuation, commercial integrity assessments and negotiation support
- Lead cross-functional diligence across Product, Engineering, Security, Finance, Legal and People
- Prepare NDAs, LOIs and purchase agreements with Legal and outside counsel
- Lead post-acquisition integration and track outcomes against roadmap and business goals
- Maintain relationships with founders, executives, investors, bankers and advisors
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years across corporate development, corporate strategy, strategy consulting or technology investing
- 5+ years leading acquisitions end to end in enterprise software
- Skilled in market sizing, competitive analysis and landscape mapping
- Skilled in valuation, financial modeling, deal structuring, negotiation and integration planning
- Working understanding of software development, DevSecOps and the AI landscape
- Ability to present trade-offs plainly to executives and the Board in an async-first environment
- Ability to build trust across Product, Engineering, Finance and Legal
- Familiarity with the DevSecOps, security, AI and open source ecosystems preferred
