Key responsibilities & impact- Perform batch operations according to service agreements
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve JCL abends, override issues, and symbolic parameter problems
- Allocate and manage BIOS, TIF, GDG, and VSAM datasets
- Identify ownership of Production and QA jobs and coordinate with development groups
- Perform FOOS recovery and batch/online recovery activities
- Coordinate batch job restarts, abend recovery, and customer escalations
- Use break-glass procedures for emergency production support access
- Monitor and manage OPC/TWS scheduling activities, including hold/release actions and predecessor/successor analysis
- Support NDM/Connect: Direct operations, transfer troubleshooting, DR transfers, and client file transfers
- Perform PDX installs, promotes, backouts, and password reset support using Power IDs
- Manage ITSM incidents, problem tickets, FACHA/Hot Item creation, reassignment, and closure
- Process TSSR work orders and production/QA job requests within SLA timelines
- Execute weekend IPL support, validate environment availability, and coordinate fixes for out-of-sequence abends
- Ensure Production, QA, and Test regions remain operational after maintenance and IPL activities
- Collaborate with development, storage, client, and infrastructure teams to resolve production issues and support critical operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4+ years of experience in Mainframe Production Support
- Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining batch processing, scheduling, file transfers, and production environments across Production, QA, and Test regions
- JCL troubleshooting and abend resolution
- OPC/TWS job scheduling and monitoring
- NDM/Connect: Direct file transfers
- Dataset management including VSAM, GDG, BIOS, and TIF
- PDX deployment support
- ITSM ticketing and incident/problem management
- Batch job monitoring and recovery actions
- IPL support activities
- Strong analytical and communication skills
