Key responsibilities & impact- Own payroll accounting, including payroll journal entries, subsidiary expense allocations, fringe benefits, management fee allocations, and payroll reconciliations
- Prepare equity rollforward schedules and provide quarterly equity activity summaries
- Oversee accounts payable coding, payouts, aging, reconciliations, and long-outstanding items
- Perform monthly period-over-period and budget-to-actual flux/variance analysis, including COGS vs. SG&A classification review
- Directly manage and develop two Senior GL Accountants and the AP Specialist
- Review and sign off on work performed by Senior GL Accountants and GL Accountants
- Set daily and monthly team priorities aligned with the month-end close calendar
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules
- Ensure account ownership, documented processes, and audit-ready support
- Prepare or review audit schedules and support requests; maintain internal controls and accounting policies
- Improve close-area efficiency and leverage NetSuite and related tools
- Partner with People/HR, FP&A, Treasury, Product/Engineering, Legal, Tax, and outside advisors
- Handle ad hoc projects and other duties assigned by the Assistant Controller or Controller
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 6-8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Hands-on experience with month-end close across multiple GL areas
- Experience with payroll accounting, accounts payable, and expense classification (COGS vs. SG&A)
- 2+ years directly managing or supervising accounting staff
- Experience reviewing others' work and providing constructive feedback
- Experience capitalizing internally developed software required
- Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system required
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
- Experience with high-volume, multi-entity, or multi-processor environments required
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
- Ability to coach staff and work cross-functionally
- Ability to bring structure and process discipline to evolving or ambiguous areas of ownership
- CPA or active pursuit of CPA preferred
