About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and support the design, planning, and execution of proposals and Statements of Work for potential projects
- Support Project and Business Development teams by executing bid, pricing, and proposal strategies
- Assess internal pricing strategies and performance against service delivery goals
- Define and implement RFP requirements
- Manage the proposal life cycle from RFP to Proposal to Award to Project Handoff
- Ensure internal and customer proposal requirements and deliverables are completed on time
- Manage a medium-to-large-sized team, including proposal administrators, bid coordinators, technical writers, and technical proposal managers
- Lead interfaces with internal and external stakeholders on bid proposal and project planning teams
- Communicate and present effectively to client groups and team members
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel and manage the proposal process
- Ensure team goals, roles, protocols, and business relationships meet high-performance requirements and company strategy
- Promote accountability and provide encouragement and constructive feedback
- Manage multiple deadlines and documents while meeting client qualifications and deadlines
- Read compliance requirements and create logically organized documents that meet client requests
- Write document sections as necessary
- Apply company branding and style guidelines to ensure consistent voice, language, and messaging
- Work closely with different teams to convey requirements and maintain proposal schedules and compliance
- Ensure compliance with the Henkels & McCoy West Project Management Methodology and uphold safety and quality management protocols
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience as a proposal coordinator, technical writer, or similar in the AEC industry, preferably with a contractor involved in EPC or Design-Build alternative delivery methods
- Experience with and knowledge of subcontractor bidding events
- Proven excellence in technical writing and organization
- Ability to collect and organize large amounts of information efficiently and promptly
- Solid computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Proven experience as a leader with a team of direct reports, especially in the construction arena
- Moderately complex problem-solving skills and proactive motivation to use critical thinking skills
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, or similar and/or technical writing certificate with equivalent years of experience
- 7–10 years of relevant experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience mentoring and developing a team of technical writers
- Ability to write clearly and concisely
- Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
- Knowledge of Procore, B2W, and P6 a plus
