About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide solutions and connect with walk-in customers using guidance, knowledge, and a winning attitude
- Maximize sales opportunities, create customer loyalty, and exceed customer expectations
- Manage the entire customer experience, including product selection, accurate order entry, safely picking products, and safely loading customer vehicles
- Adapt communication style for email, phone, and in-person interactions
- Pick, prepare, and stage will-call orders and shipping products
- Prepare customer backorders and put away received stock
- Assist with merchandising and showroom replenishment
- Perform inventory counts
- Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain branch appearance according to Grainger standards
- Report to the Branch Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be able to pass a military background check
- Flexibility to work any time within branch hours of operation
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and heavier loads with assistance
- Ability to learn and operate powered industrial equipment
- Ability to learn and navigate different computer systems for customer-facing and warehouse activities
- Must agree to safety guidelines and comply with all process standards, including wearing personal protective equipment
